Shortly before the end of his life, the prominent Dutch painter of Realism Poen de Wijs (1948-2014) asked me to spread his art (and that of his second wife Marion van Nieuwpoort (1950-2008) as high-quality fine art reproductions around the world. Since that moment, I’ve been working intensively on the digitization of all collections. May 2021: all preparations have been completed! The collections are now available.

The original paintings, pastels and watercolours have all been sold. Located in private and corporate collections. The art can hardly be seen anymore.

THE STORY BEHIND THIS ART
In his painting series “THE FOUR ELEMENTS”, Dutch painter of Realism Poen de Wijs goes back to ‘Hippocrates temperament theory’ and refers to Jung. Viewed superficially, the paintings show children in their playful universe. In the background, adults are visible, while still life-like objects complement the whole. Anyone who studies the paintings in more depth will see that Poen de Wijs portrays four very different types of people in a matching environment.
This painting, “FIRE” (2005) shows the choleric type. The children here are the active and energetic carriers of the light. Poen de Wijs plays a virtuoso game with the technical layering according to the classic painting method. He also plays with layers in the foreground and background and with trompe l’oeil still lifes on the surface of the canvas. There are also several layers in terms of content.
